People treats

June 20, 2003 - 2:52 p.m.

I am more than a little irritated. Went out this morning to leave out food for the wayward cats, and saw the lid disturbed on one plastic tote on the front porch. It was empty, and it hadn't been empty before. It had contained some DVDs and videotapes, so someone apparently decided to help themselves to them. What puzzles me is why they didn't just snarf the whole damn tote, rather than taking them out individually and replacing the lid. I am a little suspicious of the guys who came to haul some of the junk furniture last week... they might have noticed the tote and decided to borrow some things...

On the porch itself, apparently the wayward Felix has decided to leave me offerings. There were three or four dead moles in front of the door. I don't know what makes him think I eat... dead moles. Why can't he bring me some frozen shrimp or something?

Penny has decided she doesn't want to see other people any more. She had a date last night with the guy, John, she was interested in. Although she stayed out till 4:30 or so (at least, that's the time she called me on her way home) apparently she came to some decision that she doesn't want to date around any more and would rather focus on me.

For my part, I have felt that during the last couple of dates with other people -- like the Julie I met the other night after work up in Owings Mills -- that my heart really wasn't in it. There are two women I'm still curious to meet... one because her pictures are sexy as hell and one because she has a great voice, classic good looks, and is smart and funny on the phone -- but after that, I can see myself tiring out.

So I look backwards. I think I wouldn't mind seeing Debra once in a while, and maybe a couple of other people casually, but I really like being with Penny and it may well be that, like her, I'll just decide I don't want to do anything with anyone else any more. I suspect she's further along that path than I am, but I'll probably get most of the way there sometime.

Boxing last night was pretty boring. Most of the matches were plotless. Cigars were good, though.
