The giant wabbit is here!

Well, Ben, the megawabbit, has arrived.

And he's large. Soon to be larger.

We drove up on Saturday to meet him and bring him home... he was the only one out of a box of four small wabbits to sit up and have a look at us when we came in, so he must have known we were his people. The others just sort of slugged in the bottom of the enclosure, presumably waiting for their respective people to show up. Anyway, he was quite curious and genial, and had enormous ears.

He spent the ride home in a rabbit box on Suzanne's lap in the car, with the air conditioning on him. A side trip to try to find a baby or pet scale failed utterly. You'd think with all the damn human babies clogging up the aisles at most major stores, they'd have baby scales, but no, all they had were regular adult scales. We already have one of those. So, I guess it's off to eBay to find a decent one. Ben weighs 2.3 pounds right now, his father weighs 14 and his mother, almost 17. The breeder is pretty sure he'll be larger than either of them.

This could be quite amazing.

The new kitten, Max, isn't sure what to make of the wabbit. Ben is fearless and will come right up to him, sniffing and checking him out, and Max's only response appears to be whacking the rabbit on the head and bouncing away. Ben doesn't care, in that offhand way that future giants of the earth don't much care about small flies and such. Max will probably be large, too, but Ben will be... larger.
