Eleven days

October 15, 2007 - 5:09 p.m.

I am a little surprised that it's been eleven days since I last posted anything new. I guess that's why my hit counts are for shit. There is a causality in the world, after all.

See, now I have to think back and figure out what's happened since... umm... October 3.

Suzanne and I met some friends out at a street fest in Frederick and caught up on all sorts of stuff. Mary offered some wedding advice, some of which we'll probably take, some of which we'll likely leave (sorry, I really don't approve of the concept of a "wedding coordinator" in the same way that I don't do business with "travel agents"). But we did catch up on many things, and Suzanne got to meet their cat and see their house, in roughly that order.

We drove a truly insane distance yesterday to do churchy things. Suzanne was guest minister at an area church on Sunday morning, and then immediately after that, we had to drive up into central New Jersey to see a friend of hers from her internship be installed as the new minister at some church up near where I used to live many years ago. I don't know what it is about Suzanne's former internship classmates, but most of them seem to be tall, and if not attractive, at least very friendly and personable. Apparently the one who doesn't fit this bill wasn't there anyway and I've missed nothing.

We had dinner in Princeton with her old mentor from seminary, who will likely be doing our wedding. He was pretty unexpected... I expected a stodgy, crusty old churchy guy and instead found him to be quirky, fond of cigars and horses, and pretty opinionated about what a bunch of doofs many of those in his profession are. I think he'll do just fine. Dinner was good, but then immediately afterward, we had to complete the lap and drive back here, which we did, eventually picking Suzanne's car up in Frederick again and making it home before 4.

I generally try to avoid things like that, but if it's only once in a while, I can deal with it. Suzanne really needs to get more practice driving the diesel, though, because I really would like some help on those sort of rides.

Apples are almost ready to be picked. I still have some things that have to be planted and a bunch of things that have to be cut back or removed entirely. I figure there are two more decent weekends until the frost comes and I won't be able to get any more useful things planted, but then again, it was pretty cold last night and I shouldn't count on anything weather-related these days.
