Need your inputJune 26, 2007 - 11:35 p.m.
Is Diaryland dying? In recent months I've seen traffic to this page drop off, and no amount of flogging with new banners and whatnot seems to improve the hits. While I really appreciate my few loyal readers, I have to ask... are the rest of you seeing the same sort of drop in traffic? What do we do about it? I have to say that for me, this site has been a bit underpromoted outside the DL world because this site is a bit more raw than my several other blogs. My fiancee doesn't read this, my cow-orkers don't read it. I don't link to it from my less-anonymized sites. That's part of my particular problem, but that's a choice I made. For example, my "public" blog, run on a server I operate in my house -- over there in the dining room, actually, gets about 8000 hits a day. This site has averaged 50 hits a day over the nearly five years I've been writing it. Sure, I didn't start this to get a hugh jass audience, but at the same time, I always intended that people would read it. What are the rest of you doing to promote your site without compromising the anonymous nature many of you have regarding your blog here?
